Location

Ferndale Park is situated in the upper reaches of the picturesque Hunter Valley, twenty four kilometres north of Dungog in the foothills of the Barrington Tops. Just three hours drive from Sydney and less than one and a half hours from Newcastle, Ferndale Park is close enough to provide weekend getaways and midweek escapes without having to travel too far from these cities. The roads leading to Ferndale are all sealed, except for the two kilomtere entrance to the park which is a gravel.

Description

Ferndale Park offers superb camping and caravan/campervan sites in a relaxed riverside setting. The park is set on 150 hectares of peaceful grazing country and is equipped with full amenties such as hot showers and flush toilets which are maintained on a daily basis. The area of the campground itself is large enough to allow for finding your own piece of secluded paradise. Subject to total fire bans, yes, you can have your own open camp fire at Ferndale park. (B.Y.O marsh mellows) Whether you are looking for a fun filled family holiday or are a couple looking to get away for a secluded weekend, Ferndale Park offers the perfect setting for everyone who has wants to 'get away from it all'. Ferndale Park is pet friendly - you can bring along your dog free of charge. - Powered sites available. - Clean amenities including hot showers and flush toilets. - A licensed restaurtant and horse riding are only a five minutes drive away. - 'The Paymasters Office' (CA 1915) is a restored historic shed with 240V power and lighting installed. This shed is available for hire by groups and those having celebrations. Also used as backup acommodation for campers in case of wet weather.

Activities

Ferndale Park makes an ideal base camp for those wishing to explore the Barrington Tops National Park. Within the camp grounds there are a number of short walks along the leafy banks of the Chichester River and into the surrounding forests. The open expanse of fresh water offered by Lake Chichester is only 15 minutes away. Nature lovers have long chosen Ferndale park as a hotspot for native bird watching - all flora and fauna are protected. For the kids, there is a large flat area where they can play cricket or kick a football around. A basketball hoop with backing board is also provided. Plenty of exploring also awaits the youngsters. You may just prefer to sit by the river in a deck chair, watching the blue gums and river oaks sway gently in breeze - at Ferndale you switch off the frantic pace of exterior life and take some time out for yourself.
