Location

Ferndale Park and Cottage is situated in the upper reaches of the picturesque Hunter Valley, twenty four kilometres north of Dungog in the foothills of the Barrington Tops. Just three hours drive from Sydney and less than one and a half hours from Newcastle, this cottage is close enough to provide weekend getaways and midweek escapes without having to travel too far from these cities. The roads leading to Ferndale are all sealed, except for the two kilomtere entrance to the park which is a gravel.

Description

Sitauated in a secluded area of Ferndale Park camping area, this cottage is two bedroom and having one double and two single beds plus a trundle, it can easily accommodate five people. There is a log fire in the lounge area, an outdoor gas B.B.Q. an also an outside wood fired B.B.Q.

Facilities

Equipped with television, video, C.D. player/stereo unit, electric cook top/oven, microwave plus all cutlery and cooking utensils, this cottage is a home away from home. Basic laundry and washing facilities are also provided. All you need to bring is your own refreshments and food.

Activities

Ferndale Cottage makes an ideal base for those wishing to explore the Barrington Tops National Park and State forests. Within the grounds of Ferndale, there are a number of short walks along the leafy banks of the Chichester River and into the surrounding forests. The open expanse of fresh water offered by Lake Chichester is only 15 minutes away. Nature lovers have long chosen Ferndale Park as a hotspot for native bird watching - all flora and fauna are protected. For the kids, there is a large flat area where they can play cricket or kick a football around. A basketball hoop with backing board is also provided. Plenty of exploring also awaits the youngsters. You may just prefer to sit by the river in a deck chair, watching the blue gums and river oaks sway gently in breeze - at Ferndale you switch off the frantic pace of exterior life and take some time out for yourself.
